Thornton Public Library

We welcome you to visit the Thornton Public Library at 412 Main Street. The library is open Monday thru Friday from 2 to 6 pm, and on Saturday from 9 to 11:30 am. Sibyl Jorgensen is the library director.

The Thornton Public Library has an active, helpful board of trustees. Pam Muhlenbruch is the board president. Julie Bell is serving as secretary. The other board members are are Pam Muhlenbruch, Jane McLaughlin and Julie Bell.

We have an adult fitness center in the south half of our basement. It is FREE to the public for use during library hours, or a key may be borrowed from city hall and returned after you finish at the fitness center. We have state of the art equipment including: an elliptical machine, 2 treadmills and a recumbent bike, and some weights.

We are offering beginning sewing classes on Friday 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday mornings.

During the summer vacation break, we have our Summer Reading Program for the kids. Deb Helm (a teacher at Hampton schools) is in charge of this program for the library. The program runs for 4 or 5 weeks, meeting twice a week.
